Assad, Hezbollah forces enter Syria rebel town

None

Syrian troops backed by fighters from Lebanon's Hezbollah attacked and entered the strategic rebel stronghold of Qusair on Sunday, a day after President Bashar Assad insisted he would not quit.

Syrian troops backed by tanks and warplanes launched an assault Sunday on the strategic rebel-held town near the Lebanese border, pounding the area with airstrikes and artillery salvos, leaving at least 30 people dead and forcing residents to scramble for cover in basements and makeshift bunkers, activists said.
