Man serving multiple life sentences for murder of seven Palestinians marries M., woman who allowed self-proclaimed rabbi Elior Chen to viciously abuse her children

In a ceremony held Sunday in Jerusalem, Ami Popper, who is serving multiple life sentences for the murder of seven Palestinians, married the woman who allowed self-proclaimed rabbi Elior Chen to viciously abuse her children.

 

One of M.'s sons is still comatose in a vegetative state.

While Popper received leave from prison for the wedding, M. has already been released earlier this year.

 

The small ceremony included only close friends and members of the couple's family.

 

Popper was sentenced to seven life sentences for the murder of seven Palestinian construction workers in Rishon Lezion in 1990. He is set to be released in 2030, after his sentenced was commuted by President Shimon Peres.

 

During his time in prison, Popper became religious, got married and had three kids. In 2007, while on prison leave, Popper was involved in a car accident which left his wife and one of his sons dead. He had been driving without a license.

 

He has since remarried and got divorced. Sunday's wedding is his third marriage.

 

In late 2012, he was transferred from the Maasiyahu Prison to the Ayalon Prison after repeatedly harassing former President Moshe Katsav, who is serving a seven-year sentence for rape.

 

M. served a five-year sentence for abuse after she turned state's evidence against Chen. During her she trial that she had been stupid and innocent, and that Chen had succeeded in convincing her that her children were sick and that abuse was the cure.
