Court dismisses lawsuit filed by family of Palestinian killed by police

The Jerusalem District Court rejected a damages suit filed by the family of Akal Srour, a Palestinian who was killed during conflict between protesters and Border Guards over construction of the separation wall, near the village of Naalin in June 2009.
The court rejected the petitioners' claims that Srour was shot for no apparent reason and that responsibility for his death rests on Israel. The court further accepted the State's position that the officer who shot Srour did so because the lives of three of his friends were in danger. (Aviel Magnezi)
