Mayor in center of country arrested on suspicion of corruption

The Police Fraud Investigation Unit raided the offices of a municipality in the center of the country, arresting the mayor and five businessmen, contractors and associates. The arrests follow an undercover investigation which police conducted against the city on suspicion of bribery, money laundering, fraud and breach of trust.
Investigators seized numerous documents from City Hall and from the suspects’ homes. Some of the suspects will be remanded at the Rishon Lezion Magistrate’s Court. (Eli Senyor)
