The Ombudsman received 15,123 complaints in 2012. This is a record for the number of complaints received in a single year since the commission was established in 1971. The numbers come from the report submitted by State Comptroller and Ombudsman, retired Judge Joseph Shapira.
The report showed that 27.3% of the complaints filed were justified. Regarding complaints against the Israel Broadcast Authority, 52% were listed as justified – a higher percentage than that of the Israel Postal Service, where 48.4% of the complaints were justified and the Israeli Police, with 38.4% justified complaints.
