Peri committee proposes haredi draft at 21; 1,800 exemptions
A proposal drafted by the ministerial committee tasked with promoting equal share of the military and civil burden in Israeli society, which is headed by Science Minister Yaakov Peri, calls to draft ultra-Orthodox to the IDF at age 21 and grant 1,800 draft exemptions to haredim.
According to the proposal, compulsory service for males will be shortened from 36 months to 32 months, while IDF service for women will be extended from 24 months to 28 months. (Moran Azulay)
