Minister Ariel: Extending hesder yeshiva service – contrary to coalition agreement

Housing Minister Uri Ariel (Habayit Hayehudi) referred to the Peri Committee bill and its suggestion to extend the hesder yeshiva service to two years, and claimed "it is contrary to the coalition agreement. Habayit Hayehudi party will object and demand to remove this item from the bill."
The committee, which submitted its conclusions to the Government Secretariat, suggests recruiting haredim at the age of 21, providing 1,800 exemptions and cutting mandatory service for men and extending mandatory service for women. (Moran Azulay)
