AG: Ramat Gan mayor should not stay in office

None

The attorney general's office filed its response to a High Court petition contesting a ruling allowing Ramat Gan Mayor Tzvi Bar to keep his office pending the completion of legal proceedings against him, saying that the decision to keep the mayor in office "is radically unreasonable and cannot stand."

The mayor is charged with allegedly accepting bribes for the sum of NIS 1.9 ($510,000) in order to back real-estate projects in his city. He is also charged with fraud, breach of trust, money laundering and obstruction of justice. (Gilad Morag, Aviel Mengazi)
