Lod District Court took two months off of the sentence of a Gadera resident who had been sentenced to six months of community service for two counts of driving while intoxicated by Petah Tikva traffic court.
The driver claimed that a police officer saw that he was under the influence of alcohol but did not prevent him from entering his car and driving away. The officer reported him to a policeman, who stopped him as he drove. The court ruled that the police should not only engage in enforcement, but also in prevention. (Raanan Ben-Zur)
