National Insurance: Cuts will reduce 35,000 children to poverty

The National Insurance Institute released a report which cautions that the expected cuts in the State budget will plunge 35,000 additional children into poverty.
According to the institute, the cuts in the child stipends and raising the income tax and the VAT will raise poverty rates among families by 4.4%. The accumulated effect of the cuts will decrease the disposable income of the lowest decile by 6.5% and that of the ninth decile by only 1.6%. (Omri Efraim)
