Abbas to appoint Rami Hamdallah as next Palestinian PM

Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas has decided to appoint Rami Hamdallah as the next Palestinian prime minister. He will replace Salam Fayyad.
Hamdallah is the president of the Nablus-based An-Najah National University and was among the most prominent of candidates for the position. The official announcement for his appointment is expected for later Sunday evening.
