Finance Ministry to raise alcohol prices

Finance Minister Yair Lapid decided to implement the alcohol taxation reform five months ahead of time. The reform includes imposing a uniform tax in proportion to the percentage of alcohol in contained in beverages in order to increase taxation on drinks heavy with alcohol.
The order signed by the finance minister, which would bring an increase in State revenue by NIS 200 million ($55 million) a year, will take effect starting next month, and its extension will be brought to first hearing in the Knesset Finance Committee after two months. (Avital Lahav)
