Palestinian official: Kerry asked Abbas for extension
The Palestinian Civil Affairs Minister Hussein a-Sheikh said US Secretary of State John Kerry asked Palestinian President Mahmous Abbas to grant him further time in his efforts to revive the peace talks between Israel and the Palestinians.
According to a-Sheikh, Abbas told Kerry that in the event of failure, the functional role of the Palestinian Authority since the Oslo Accords comes to an end and Israel must bear the responsibility for the occupation. (Elior Levi)
