Habayit Hayehudi faction announced it would not withdraw the veto it issued over the bill proposed by MK Eliezer Stern (Hatnua), which seeks to raise the number of members in the body which elects the chief rabbis and include 20% female members. Nonetheless, the faction stated it will appoint women to the body through the authority of Religious Services Minister Naftali Bennett.
The veto and Tuesday's statement followed numerous disputes between Habayit Hayehudi Chairman Bennett and Hatnua Chairwoman Tzipi Livni. (Moran Azulay)
