Minister: State should provide welfare services, not charities

Welfare Minister Meir Cohen said at a Knesset Finance Committee meeting, "Charities are of course welcome, but they should serve as a supplement – not the core part (of the welfare budget). The core part must be provided by the state and regrettably that is not the case."
Cohen further added, "We must continue to expand the welfare budget." (Omri Efraim)
