Barnoar shooting: Woman claims LGBT activist tried to rape her

Woman says man arrested in connection with 2009 gay center shooting tried to rape her, sexually harassed her 10 years ago

Tel Aviv police are investigating a complaint filed by a woman who claims that a prominent member of the LGBT community who was recently arrested in connection with the gay youth center shooting had tried to rape her.

The woman, who was born a man and had undergone sex change surgery, claims the suspect sexually harassed her 10 years ago. She filed the complaint earlier this week, after the suspect's arrest.

Police believe the suspect is key to the Barnoar shooting investigation and are hoping to convince him to turn state's evidence. But these efforts could to be compromised should the woman's claims prove to be true.

Tel Aviv police have emphasized that the man is not suspected of involvement in the murder of Nir Katz and Liz Trubeshi. He is suspected of committing a crime involving one of the people connected to the Barnoar shooting which likely led to the murder.

Police are also looking into the possibility that the suspect knew or speculated about the motive for the shooting but failed to share this with the police.
