UN to Austria: Delay Golan withdrawal

UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon's spokesperson said the world body has asked Austria to postpone the planned withdrawal of its troops from the buffer zone separating Israel and Syria in the Golan Heights.
“Specifically, (the UN) formally requested Austria to complete the withdrawal of its personnel no earlier than the end of July to ensure a smooth transition with incoming troop-contributing countries and a continued UN presence in critical UNDOF (UN Disengagement Observer Force) positions such a Mount Hermon, Martin Nesirky said.
