UN, France: Israel must freeze settlement construction

UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon's spokesperson Martin Nasirski said Ban is concerned with Israeli settlement expansion in the West Bank. According to him, the UN is calling Israel to freeze construction and commit to international law and the Road Map.
At the same time, the French Foreign Ministry condemned the construction in the Itamar and Bruchin settlements, and announced Israel must reconsider this decision and avoid such actions. "Violation of international law negates the US's efforts, with our support, to renew the peace process," as stated. (AFP)
