Social activists hold protest flotilla against exporting gas

About 150 social activists launched eight vessels in what they are calling a protest flotilla against the plans to export Israel's recently discovered underwater natural gas reservoirs. The flotilla disembarked from Herzliya and Tel Aviv's ports and is cruising along Tel Aviv's coast line.

Guy Jana, one of the protest's organizers said that "besides the fact that if the gas stays in Israel it would reduce electric prices by 3,500 NIS annually per family, if exported it would be a 600 million NIS loss for the State. That would just be irresponsible." (Shahar Chai)
