The Israel Food Price Index has increased by 13.5% during the last eight years, in comparison to only 4.6% in EU nations and 2.3 within the Euro monetary bloc, a Knesset Research Center study revealed.
The study was conducted in anticipation of a new PAC expected to be formed in the Knesset within a fortnight which will fight against the "food cartel" in Israel. MK Gila Gamliel (Likud), who initiated the move, said the PAC will focus on decentralizing the Israeli food industry. (Zvi Lavi)
