Ashkenazi Chief Rabbi Yona Metzger asked Justice Minister Tzipi Livni and Religious Affairs Minister Naftali Bennett to suspend himself from all his judicial roles facing the investigation against him for suspicions of bribery, fraud and money laundering.
Livni accepted his request and said: "Even though there's only a short time before his term is over, this is the right thing to do in light of the circumstances." (Aviel Magnezi, Kobi Nachshoni)
