Final moments of preparations before being released from captivity: Seven years after the kidnapping of Gilad Shalit, the Izz al-Din al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of Hamas, posted new images of the soldier, a short time before he was escorted to the Egyptian border crossing. In the pictures, Shalit can be seen tying his shoes, buttoning his shirt and rising from his chair, accompanied by two Hamas men.

The video states that the Shalit kidnapping operation was known as, "The illusion shattered." In the video title, Hamas adds, "We started to achieve the goal, and we will reach the end." Thus, Hamas threatens that the organization will continue operating in the same manner, to facilitate the release the rest of the Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails.

Last month, Shalit participated in a memorial service for Sayeret Matkal officer Emmanuel Moreno at Givat Shmuel, where he recited the Blessing of Deliverance for the first time since his October 18, 2011 release. At the end of the ceremony, the event's host stated that this would be the first time Shalit would recite the prayer. The former soldier stood, put on a skullcap, and read, “Blessed are thou, lord our God, King of the universe, who bestows good to sinners, even as he has bestowed to me every good.”

Hundreds of people who had packed the hall replied, adding the customary, “He who bestows every good, he will bestow every good. Selah.”
