Kerry plunges back into Mideast peace diplomacy

None

US Secretary of State John Kerry is using Amman, Jordan, as a base in the attempt to restart talks between Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas.

In his fifth visit to the region, Kerry left Amman Thursday evening to drive to Jerusalem to dine with Netanyahu. He is to have lunch with Abbas on Friday in Amman. Earlier Thursday, Kerry talked about the Syria situation and the Mideast peace process with Jordan's King Abdullah II. The Royal Palace says Abdullah told Kerry he's working to bridge gaps between the two sides. (AP)
