Israeli food exports to US up 50% in 5 years

Export Institute says America received record $224 million worth of Israeli food, beverages in 2012 alone

The last five years have seen a significant rise in Israeli food exports to the United States – 50%, to be exact.

The Israel Export and International Cooperation Institute (IEICI) recently revealed that in 2012 alone, the US received a record $224 million worth of Israeli food and beverage exports, which represents a 3% increase since 2011 and a 50% increase since 2008, when Israeli food and beverage exports were valued at $144 million.

Close to a dozen Israeli manufactures have confirmed their participation in New York's Fancy Food Show, which takes place from Sunday to Tuesday next week, as Jewish and "kosher-style" foods continue to expand and dominate certain specialty food markets.

The IEICI will also have a significant role at this year's Kosherfest, the world's largest kosher-certified products trade event, which takes place in New Jersey in October.

Israeli foods continue to conquer kosher aisles in supermarkets across the US as American kosher food manufactures continue to export more and more Israeli products.

Several Israeli researchers predict that the amount of Israeli food and beverage exports in the US will double within the next five years.
