A policeman and witnesses says the Indian army has killed two people and wounded another in the Indian portion of Kashmir, leading to huge anti-India protests.
Police official Abdul Ghani Mir says soldiers surrounded a few houses in the village of Markondal before dawn Sunday when they observed a suspicious movement and fired, killing a teenage boy. As angry, stone-throwing protesters surrounded a stalled army vehicle, the soldiers fired again, killing a man and wounding a third. The army has refused to comment. (AP)
