Sami Anan, military advisor to Egyptian President Mohamed Morsi, submitted his resignation in solidarity with the protesters against the "Muslim Brotherhood." Anan, who served as chief of staff under deposed President Mubarak, called on the Egyptian army called to set an example and to act while considering the will of the people and their legitimate demands.
