Knesset passes governance bill in preliminary reading
None
After a fiery debate, the Knesset plenum passed the governance bill in a preliminary reading with 60 voting for the bill, and 44 against.
The new bill will raise the threshold to 4%, reduce the number of ministers to 18 and the number of deputy ministers to a maximum of four. In addition, the government will remain in office even if the Knesset will not support the budget until March 31 every year. Motions of no confidence will be passed only by a 65 MKs majority, not by the current 61. (Moran Azulay)
