Russia: Putin bans adoption by gay couples

Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a bill banning foreign same-sex couples from adopting Russian children. The Kremlin press release stated that the bill aims to save the children from unnecessary stress and mental anguish.
Earlier this week Putin signed a bill prohibiting "unconventional relationship propaganda." (AFP)
