Turkey's ruling party: Egypt revolution sign of backwardness

The AK party, Turkey's ruling party, issued a statement regarding the Egypt revolution and said that it is "a sign of backwardness." The Turkish Hurriyet newspaper cited the party's spokesperson Hüseyin Çelik, who said that the revolution was backed by several Western countries which did not accept the Muslim Brotherhood's rise to power.
The spokesperson added that Turkey is concerned by the violent clashes in the country, and wondered: "Can Morsi resist against tanks and artillery cannons?" (Ynet)
