Abbas congratulates Egypt's interim leader, praises army

In an official statement, Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas congratulated Adli Mansour, who was sworn in as the interim president of Egypt after Mohamed Morsi's ouster. Abbas said that Mansour is being appointed at a time of an historic transition in Egypt.
In addition, Abbas praised the Egyptian army's performance, which according to him is defending the country and prevented a course of action leading to an unknown fate. (AFP)
