Education minister's speech in haredi college boycotted
Education Minister Shai Piron's speech on Sunday evening at the Ono Academic College Jerusalem extension's graduation ceremony was cancelled after several students announced they will not attend the ceremony due to the minister's participation.
The institution stated in response that "interested parties, mostly out of the haredi campus, chose to exploit the graduation ceremony to gain political credit at the expense of the student public." It added: "We'll not allow a handful of haredi wheeler dealers to tarnish the ceremony and a whole class." (Shahar Chai)
