Lebanese Interior Minister Marwan Charbel accused the perpetrators of the Beirut blast of an attempt to foment strife in his country.
"The blast is an atrocious act, an attempt to destroy Lebanon and start a civil war between Sunnis and Shiites," he said, after being attacked by several demostrators when he surveyed the scene of the explosion. (Roi Kais)
