Defense Minister authorizes first haredi Mechina

Defense Minister Moshe Ya'alon has authorized the founding of a haredi Mechina (pre-army preparatory course). It will be called Hareri Zion and will be located in the Jordan Valley. The mechina's graduates will serve for three years in combative roles in the Haredi Nahal unit.
In a statement published by the Defense Ministry it claimed that some 20 youths had already been accepted into the course. Ya'alon also okayed the opening of a technologically oriented Hesder Yeshiva. (Yoav Zitun)
