Treasury: New apartment purchases up 64% in May
None
A Finance Ministry review reveals that May recorded a 64% jump in new apartment purchases compared to the previous quarter, most likely as a result of the rise in value-added tax in early June. The purchase of second-hand apartments was up 24%.
The review also reveals that June saw a 7.9% increase in taxation compared to May, totaling NIS 19.4 billion (about $5.3 billion). (Avital Lahav)
