Egypt army thwarts plot aimed at creating confusion, chaos
The Egyptian army has thwarted a "wide-scale plot" which was to be carried out from four major thoroughfares to create confusion and chaos, a "knowledgeable" source told the Al-Ahram newspaper.
According to the report, in Sinai army helicopters destroyed three armored vehicles and near the border with Libya three vehicles carrying weapons were seized as they were making their way to Cairo and Alexandria. Along the third thoroughfare security forces thwarted an attack on the Presidential Guard headquarters, while on the fourth the army thwarted an attempt by radical Islamists to destroy a bridge in Cairo.
