Palestinian report: Egyptian intelligence monitors Hamas in Gaza
The Palestinian news agency Maan reported that according to a senior military source, the Egyptian intelligence is monitoring Hamas inside the Gaza Strip, in Rafah and Khan Yunis. According to the source, the surveillance requires the Egyptian military "to penetrate the Gaza airspace with drones, and photograph Hamas activists in case they are performing hostile activities."
According to the same source, "as part of the monitoring program, F-16 jets were placed in the vicinity of the Suez Canal so they could intervene immediately if and when there is an attack from Gaza." (Roi Kais)
