Eliyahu Aides: AG's decision will increase support
The communications consultant of Rabbi Shmuel Eliyahu responded to the comments of Attorney General Yehuda Weinstein, in which the AG stated that the candidacy of Eliyahu to chief rabbi post was inappropriate. The consultant said that he would examine the situation and then decide how to respond.
Insiders said that the position of Weinstein will only increase support for Eliyahu among the assembly which elects rabbis. They also added that if the Attorney General seeks to disqualify Eliyahu, they will petition the High Court because Weinstein has no authority to reject his candidacy. (Kobi Nahshoni)
