The Rabbinical Council has decided to renew the ordination from Rabbi Yitzhak Yosef to be the chief rabbi of a city, thus removing the barrier that prevented him for running for Chief Rabbi of Israel.
Rabbi Yosef, the son of Shas spiritual leader Rabbi Ovadia Yosef, was ordained in the past, but last year his qualification lapsed. (Kobi Nachshoni)
