EU condemns anti-Russian blogger conviction

The European Union condemned the conviction of Russian blogger Alexei Navalny, one of the Russian opposition's leading figures.
"Navalny's sentence raises serious questions regarding the rule of law in Russia," an EU statement read. Navlany, who was sent to five years in prison, claimed in his defense that the charges against him were fabricated due to his political activity. (AFP)
