White House: Assad will not rule Syria like before
White House Spokesperson Jay Carney said that though the tide in Syria shifts often, President Bashar Assad will never be able to control the country as he did before.
Regarding Chief of Joint Staff General Martin Dempsey's statements in a Senate hearing on Thursday, Carney said that though the president asks the military commanders for options, he has clarified that there will not be a ground invasion of Syria. (Yitzhak Benhorin, Washington)
