Peres to Abbas on talks: You did right thing

President Shimon Peres spoke with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas and congratulated him on his decision to return to the negotiating table. Peres told Abbas, "There is no alternative other than peace, not for us, not for you. You made a courageous and historic decision to return to the negotiating table. Do not listen to the skeptical, you did the right thing."
Abbas replied, "I hope that there will be progress and we will get an independent state that will live as neighbors and in peace with Israel." (Noam Dvir)
