Gov’t approves cuts to ministry budgets. Lapid: Necessary step

The government approved an across the board cut of 4% in the budgets of various ministries on Sunday. The reduction, in the amount of NIS 600 million, will apply to all ministries except the Ministries of Defense and Social Affairs. The budgets of the Ministries of Education and Transportation will be cut separately, and at a greater rate of NIS 500 million each.
Finance Minister Yair Lapid told the cabinet meeting, "The move is necessary so that we return to responsible policy and avoid bankruptcy of the state." (Avital Lahav)
