Probation officer lied – 'kidnapper' released to house arrest

None

The Haifa District Court ordered the release to house arrest Mohammed Zeid, 29, of Ara, who was found guilty of kidnapping, after it became clear that the report filed by his probation officer regarding his arrest was false.

The officer claimed that she met the defendant and examined the level of threat he posed, but it turned out that she did not meet him at all. She was suspended by the probation services and handling of the case was transferred to the Prosecutor's Office for review. In addition, the judge ordered the examination of all reviews submitted by the officer in the last year. (Ahiya Raved)
