State: Rabbi Eliyahu nomination unsuitable, but petition too soon

The State filed the High Court of Justice with its stance on a petition presented by MK Issawi Farij (Meretz) against the nomination of Rabbi Shmuel Eliyahu for the Chief Rabbinate.

In its response, the State claims that the nomination, as Attorney General Yehuda Weinstein stated, is unsuitable, but that the petition must be rejected as it is not based on actual evidence as the elections for the Chief Rabbinate have not yet been held. (Aviel Magnezi)
