Egyptian army denies reports about reasons for Morsi arrest

None

Egyptian Army Spokesperson Ahmed Ali denied on Facebook the Al-Ahram report that ousted President Mohamed Morsi was arrested for cooperating with foreign agents. Al-Ahram reported that Egypt's Chief Prosecutor Hesham Barakat ordered the arrest for 15 additional days in order to investigate his relations with the enemy, as well as incitement to violence and attempt to "ignite monarchy".

It was additionally reported that Morsi allegedly spoke with the US government in order to have it intervene militarily and help prevent the coup. (Roi Kais)
