Voting begins for Chief Rabbinate

The 150 members of the assembly responsible for electing the chief rabbis has begun to arrive at the Leonardo in Jerusalem, to vote for the two chief rabbis of Israel. The Ashkenazi and Sephardi rabbis who are chosen will replace departing Rabbis Shlomo Amar and Yona Metzger. They will hold the office for the next ten years.
At six in the evening, with the locking of the ballot boxes, counting of votes will begin, and at the end the new chief rabbis will be announced. (Kobi Nahshoni)
