Attorney General Yehuda Weinstein has ordered the release of Babaker (Babi) Ibrahim, a Sudanese national living in Tel Aviv and starring in a play dealing with the life of the Sudanese community in Israel. He claimed he spoke with the relevant authorities and they decided to release Ibrahim.
Ibrahim was arrested last Thursday on suspicion of stealing a bicycle and was jailed as part of a new directive allowing authorities to imprison 'infiltrators' suspected of a crime for an indefinite period without trial. A campaign for his release was run online under the hash tag #FreeBabi. (Aviel Mengazi)
