Abbas: Negotiations will focus on security, borders

None

Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas said that negotiations between Israel and the Palestinians that began in Washington will focus on only two issues: security and borders. He added that the negotiating schedule is six to nine months, and after they discuss the first two issues, they will move onto final status issues.

He added that the most important guarantee which the US gave the Palestinians is the seriousness of US President Barack Obama and Secretary of State John Kerry. Thus, he said, the Palestinians are serious and interested in the success of the negotiations. (Elior Levy)
