Knesset okays bill allowing local authorities to assist one another

The Knesset unanimously approved a bill proposed by Interior Minister Gideon Sa’ar to change the Municipal Ordinance amendment, allowing local authorities to act outside of their territory in an emergency and help other local authorities.
Emergency scenarios include war, earthquake and hazardous material leaks. Sa’ar said, "The new law gives expression to the value of mutual responsibility and is intended to ensure the utilization of skills, knowledge and experience of local authorities in responding to residents of the various authorities during emergencies."
