Japan's deputy PM retracts controversial Nazi comment

Japanese Deputy Prime Minister Taro Aso apologized for his remarks that Japan could "learn from the tactics" of the Nazis, whom he said were able to change the German constitution "before anyone knew". Aso made the remarks in discussions regarding the need to modify Japanese constitution in order to allow it to build an army.

Following fierce criticism, the Japanese official said: "It is regrettable that my remarks over the Nazi administration led to a misunderstanding, which was not my intention." (AFP)
